Travelicelandic roads

This photo story is about Icelandic roads and paths. If you were or you plan to go to Iceland, you find out that the Icelandic roads and paths are like its own chapter beside geological treasures which are visible everywhere around.

Road number one to the community Kirkjubaejarklaustur, Iceland

When I first was going to the Iceland, and one of my friends responded: “Yeah, there is only one road around the island.” She meant the Icelandic road number one which is leading around island. There are no other highways then number one. Even not typically looking with two or three streams in each direction.

Oddly many Icelandic roads and paths lead over the country, some are paved, the other type of dirt roads. Other good roads are with two digets. As more digets, the worst type of road. Those types of roads that lead through the interior (mountain roads) and it is better to go in a jeep, are marked on maps of the letter F.

Although Iceland may sound appealing as paradise for off road rides, in fact, the off road is prohibited in Iceland due to protection of vegetation which is growing centuries.

Icelandic side roads lead through the countryside, beautiful valleys, past farms, and enhanced the beauty of Iceland. They are nice relaxing ways for slow travellers.

Islandské vedlejší cesty vedou přes venkov, krásná údolí a kolem farm. To vše podtrhává krásu Islandu. Jsou to pěkné cesty pro pomalé cestovatele.
